Historically, corrugated box manufacturers have printed on boxes using a pallet of colors created by the Glass Container Manufacturers Institute (GCMI), now known as the Glass Packaging Institute. Most corrugated manufacturers offer this pallet of colors at no additional cost. The GPI does not publish their pallet of colors online, but we have assembled the swatches from their color guide and posted them here so you can see the colors we stock. There are two color pallets, one for natural kraft material, and one for white material.
If there isn’t a GCMI color that meets your needs, we can order the color ink you want at an additional cost. The cost for PMS or custom color match inks vary greatly. It can range from $200 to $350+, based on the formulation of the color required. The basic Pantone Matching System (PMS) color chart is also here for you to compare colors.
Please Note: The GCMI colors have been scanned from original swatches, but appear slightly different than the actual color. They are only meant to give a general representation of the color pallet. Furthermore, computer monitors reproduce colors differently depending on the quality of, and the resolution settings when viewing them.
Please keep in mind, these colors are only used for direct flexographic printing on corrugated boxes. If you’re not sure about whether you want this type of printing, go to the following link: http://www.jimdandyboxes.com/printingmethods.html and read about the various printing methods we use.
